The One Million Hour Party was a Success! As in 2001, and
2011, the Centennial Light Bulb reached another milestone. This
time 1,000,000 hours! About 500 folks, family, and friends came
to Livermore, CA for food, fun, entertainment, and history in
the making. Some period costumes were worn, and the displays
set the mood for an old fashioned good time.
It was held on Saturday June 27th, 2015 at the Fire Station
# 6, 4550 East Ave. Livermore, CA, from 11 AM to 3 PM. The Fire Fighters Foundation sold food and souvenirs,
and a barbeque. Many displays of artists, books, old bulbs, and
live music. Free cake and ice cream were served by the Cowboy
Cheerleaders from Livermore High School. Tom Bramell signed and
sold his new book, A Million Hours of Service. All proceeds went to the Firefighters
Foundation. Special guests were there as well, Catherine Baker
of the State Assembly, Chris Leps (Director of Century of Light),
Mike Dunstan (the 1972 reporter who broke the story of the historic
lightbulb), relatives of Dennis Bernal, Eric Choi of Bulbrite,
Kevin Gunn: Poet Laureate, and even Robert Livermore, (by Jeff
Kaskey). Livermore Mayor John Marchand emceed the proceedings,
and our new Fire Chief Ruben Torres led us in happy birthday
