Welcome to the homepage devoted to the Longest burning Light Bulb in history. Just to show you the bulb is still kicking, I added 2 pictures above, from April 2007 by Dick Jones. Click either one to see the new gallery. Please feel free to browse the pages, and leave your comments.

Thanks to the efforts of Don Peters, of the LPFD, we now have a New Sony Bulbcam! Check out the images on the Video Page..

The third edition of Ripleys Believe it or Not, is on the bookshelves,
and our little light is making a guest appearance! Also Guinness World
Records 2007 has included the bulb as the Longest-Burning Light Bulb!

For those of you who watch the Discovery channel you might have caught
the episode 69 of MythBusters. No, they were not questioning the Bulb,
but were showing it in reference to the longevity of other bulbs. To see a
clip of it go to our articles page and follow the Mythbusters button.

For those of you who enjoyed Charles Kuralt. I just posted his 1972
interview of the Firemen at Station 1 from his book On The Road
in the articles section.

For the New Year I have added the Friends page, which has 5 parts;

  • The Fire Departments: Devoted to the brave folks who keep us safe.
  • The Heritage Guild: Helping to save yesterday for tommorrow.
  • The Shelby Connection: About Shelby Bulbs, the Shelby, Ohio Museum, Prof. Adolphe A Chaillet, and collectors.
  • Closest Competition: A well deserved tribute section to each of the bulbs' closest rivals. The newest section on the Mangum Bulb was added Sept of 2007. Happy B-Day to the Ft Worth "Palace Bulb"! 99 years glowing on Sept. 21st!
  • Visitor Shots: For you who come to Station 6 in person.
  • Schools: For all the young visitors who visit in person or online.
  • Thanks for visiting!
